Long hot summers filled with endless fun, pepsis, gola sharbats, ganna juice with lots of ice. Scraping our knees climbing trees. Holidays in Mangalore and Goa, travelling on train or steam ship or bus. Annual reunion of cousins and friends. Lugging jackfruits and goa sausage and baskets of mangoes and Gharafaos of feni and Goa vinegar back. Cycle rides to Juhu and picnics to Gorai and Manori with patties, chutney sandwiches and chips and Rasna. Kulfi and Kwality Orange sticks. Lots of shandy even for the kids. Reading endless Archie, Tin Tin, Bunty and Judy and Tinkle comics and the uncensored Mad magazine. Summer camps in Khandala, walks over the ghats, games of cricket and mid night feasts. Cross feasts and rosaries and eating boiled chana from our handkerchiefs. Endless games of seven tiles, gilly danda, hide and seek, dog and the bone and chor police, aati paati, chain cook, statue and
4 corners and l.o.n.d.o.n. until it got dark.....
Uncles playing guitars and aunties singing...
