ATV Etiquette // Don't be That Guy!

ATV Etiquette Might seem like not a big deal, but if you think that...you might be the person everyone is mad at! We pooled Instagram and came up with the Top 5 Etiquette issues out on the trail.

While there are way more than 5 "rules of the trail" that riders should follow, the focus of this video is what we consider the top 5 after talking with other riders. Have input or other ideas? Leave those comments down below, as we may end up doing an additional video of this in the future!

Rule #1:
Pick up your trash! That can be said for almost anything outdoor related. No one else wants to see, nor deal with trash. So next time you're out on the trail, please bring your trash back with you. It destroys the trail and can ultimately be a deciding factor in private landowners closing trails or government trails seeing more restrictions or closing.

Rule # 2:
Proper hand signals when passing other riders. There is a specific way this is accomplished, and it is covered in the video. We get it, there is not "class" that we all take on hand signals, which is probably why so many people do not know. There is a method, however, so we do recommend learning it.

Rule #3: Flying around blind spots
Flying around blind spots at a high rate of speed is extremely dangerous. If you want to speed around blind spots, consider using one-way trails (or better yet a closed track). If you are not going to do that, at least have someone out in front of you around the corner that can make sure there is no one coming. We get it, going fast is fun! Hurting someone is extremely easy, however, so bottom line. Please do not speed around corners.

Rule #4: Not paying attention
Rule #4 is almost the exact opposite of rule #3...That is going to slow and not paying attention. We get it, nature is beautiful. You should be able to look at the leaves all you want, or hang out and talk to other riders. However, it is also important to remember where you are and pay attention for other riders. If you want to go extremely slow, great. Just remember there are many other riders out there, and move over for them as they approach you.

Rule #5: Blocking Obstacles
This could be anything from stopping in the middle of a bridge to stopping on the trail to watch riders get through a mud hole. Now again, much like #4 if you want to stop and watch people struggle through an obstacle or check some birds out in a tree go ahead. Please just do not stop in the trail or in the way of other riders to where they are struggling to get by. Pull over, or find a convenient spot to stop and take in the sights.

Have input on these or others? Let us know if the comments below. As always, thanks for watching!
