La straordinaria fisica del quotidiano | Dario Polli | TEDxPolitecnicodiMilanoU

The second law of thermodynamics, stating that the entropy of the universe can only increase, assumes that it started from an initial very “neat” state. But how is it possible that, at the origin, the universe was in such a neat state?

Dario Polli is Associate Professor at Politecnico di Milano. He builds lasers generating extremely short flash lights, whose applications range from research on innovative materials to biology. He published about 80 scientific papers on international magazines.

In 2015 he was funded by the European Research Council to develop an innovative microscope based on impulse lasers to study cells and identify tumor tissues.

He is affiliated to IIT (Italian institute of technology) and to CNR (Italian national institute of research). Passionate/enthusiast for of scientific dissemination, he created a series of video of Physics for MOOC (Massive Open Online Courses), he collaborated with Focus Junior to explain the fascinating world of Physics to children, he realized several informative for the general public (Wired Next Fest 2015, TEDx Vicenza 2016) and for several high schools in Milan.

This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at http://ted.com/tedx
