Isan Thailand - Yai Lod's animistic worship - dancing and spiritual healing party 2013-05-19

At Pak Thong Chai, Nakhon Ratchasima, eighty-seven year old great-grandmother Lod learned the traditional animistic worship ceremonials from her mother. At certain dates, older people, mostly women, from the area congregate at her place in the village, praying to ancestors, making offerings of money, drink, etc. which Yai Lod collects, and dance to the tunes of Isan flutes. Others sell sweets, fruits, veggies and wares. It all starts an hour after sunrise and is over at noon.
