Anthony Albanese 'hopeful of a Yes vote'

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese says he is hopeful for a Yes vote to get through.

"I am very hopeful of a Yes vote this evening. That's what I am concentrating on," Anthony Albanese said on Saturday

More than 5.4 million votes had been cast as of midday Friday at early voting centres around the country.

Australians are heading to the polls to vote on whether to enshrine an Indigenous advisory body, the Voice, in the Constitution.

"This is an opportunity to make history and be on the right side of history."
