Is College Worth it ?

Is a college education worth the time and money for an information technology person? College is fantastic if you want to become a medical doctor, a nurse, or an engineer but it may not be worth your time if you want a job in information technology.  College bills and student loans by themselves can set you back for decades.  What does the industry really require from someone in information technology?  That you can do the job that's in front of you. The best way to get a job today is through certifications. The most inexpensive way to get certifications in the IT field today is self-study.  If you're still determined to go to college and get a degree make sure you pick a major that offers employment after you are finished college.  Don't waste your time getting a degree that doesn't give you a return on your investment.  Better yet get a job with a company that offers free tuition for you to go to college or will pay you to get your certification. Colleges are not what they used to be. Today they are full of nonsense and wasted time.  It's a shame if you have to pay for it with your time and your money.
