Slang Challenge: Mexican vs South American

While Mexicans and South American Spanish speakers can easily communicate with one another, there are many unique expressions and phrases that they all use. In this video we compare some slangs in a form of a competition. Our competitors for this video are Livia, Maria, and Claudia, from Mexico, Ecuador, and Peru, respectively. In all Spanish-speaking countries, different accents and expressions exist from region to region, and from country to country. Mexican Spanish can at times sound very different from Spanish spoken in Europe or South America, although the speakers will still understand one another. There are noticeable grammatical differences and pronunciations. In addition, Mexican Spanish has its own unique list of words and phrases which are not used in other Spanish speaking countries. Similarly, the Spanish language in South America has its own variations based on the country and region. For instance, in parts of Peru, Ecuador, and Colombia, Amazonic Spanish is prevalent, while Andean Spanish, is spoken in highlands of Bolivia, Ecuador and Peru, highland of Southern Colombia and Northern Chile and Argentina. Caribbean Spanish is mainly spoken in Venezuela, parts of Colombia extending down to portions of Ecuador, and of course the Caribbean islands of Cuba, Puerto Rico, and the Dominican Republic. In Argentina and Uruguay, Rioplatense Spanish spoken. Feel free to share some of your unique phrases and expressions in the comments section.
