Canning Dry Beans | How Various Types of Dry Beans & Peas React to Pressure Canning | Rebel Canning

I wanted to bring you all on an experiment to see how different varieties of dried beans and peas canned up in the pressure canner. These were pint size jars, and I used a level 1/2 cup of beans or peas per jar. I tried each of the following varieties: pinto beans, great northern beans, small red beans, black beans, large lima beans, baby lima beans, black eyed peas, field peas, and chickpeas (or garbanzo beans).

What I found was that I would use a scant 1/2 cup of both the black eyed peas and the field peas in the future. I hope that this video is helpful to new canners out there who are wondering if you do the same method with all the types of beans. Please also note that the method I use of canning straight from dry beans is not recommended by the experts and is known as rebel canning.
