Canada Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has been accused of undermining his country's civil liberties after he invoked The Emergencies Act on Monday, local time.

Prime Minister Trudeau invoked the powers in order to quell the demonstrators who have camped out in central Ottawa for three weeks.

The Emergencies Act, which was passed in 1988 but has never been invoked, will give police more powers to limit where people can legally gather.
