Comparing Ourselves to Others | Sameer Hinduja | TEDxFAUJupiter

This talk focuses on the benefits and consequences of comparing ourselves to others, an action that for many of us happens naturally, unwittingly, and automatically. As a result, such action indirectly of directly shapes our attitudes and behaviors. According to Hinduja, while comparing ourselves to others can bring benefits, it can also set unhealthy boundaries in our lives that hedges us in and keeps us from living life to the fullest.

Dr. Sameer Hinduja is a professor of Criminology and Criminal Justice at Florida Atlantic University. His area of research focuses on internet and computer-related crime and deviance as well as cyberbullying. He is currently the co-director of Cyberbullying Research Center, a center dedicated to providing up-to-date information about the nature, extent, causes, and consequences of cyberbullying

This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at http://ted.com/tedx
