Based on the Volkswagen Group MQB Evo platform, the Cupra Formentor is a sporty medium SUV available with a range of power outputs. There is the base model Formentor V (140kW) with AWD, the FWD VZ (180kW), FWD plug-in hybrid VZe (180kW), and the flagship VZx AWD (228kW).

The Formentor V competes with the Volkswagen Tiguan 132TSI, Mazda CX-5 2.5-litre turbo, Ford Escape, Hyundai Tucson 1.6T and other sporty SUVs.
