Otto Frank's mission | Anne Frank House

Having lost his family in the Holocaust, Otto Frank devoted his life to educating others about the dangers of discrimination and prejudice.

He was the driving force behind the publication of the diary written by his daughter, Anne Frank. He hoped that Anne's words would inspire unity and peace.

In 1960, their former hiding place in Amsterdam opened to the public, further realising Otto's educational mission. Through the Anne Frank House, he aimed to encourage visitors to take action against prejudice and discrimination themselves.

In 1970, he said: ‘We cannot change what happened anymore. The only thing we can do is to learn from the past and to realise what discrimination and persecution of innocent people means.’
