Should I Do Kegels On The Toilet?

Dr. Nicole Cozean of PelvicSanity physical therapy in Orange County, CA answers a question about doing Kegels on the toilet. Kegel exercises are the voluntary contraction of the pelvic floor, as if to stop the flow of urine. Some patients are recommended to actually do this on the toilet to practice stopping the stream. But does this actually help, and can it have negative consequences for the body?
