Seneca Creek Backcountry Area

The Seneca Creek Backcountry is located in the Monongahela National Forest in West Virginia. The area has nearly 70 miles of trails and is home to Spruce Knob, the highest point in the mountain state at 4863ft. We used the Swallow Rock, Seneca Creek, Horton, High Meadows, Lumberjack, Huckleberry, and Judy Springs trails to create a 27 mile lollipop loop that took us past the beautiful waterfalls of Seneca Creek, open meadows, and spruce forests that make this area so beautiful.

Plentiful beautiful campsites and interconnected trails make this area great for backpackers or day hikers of any skill level, as loops of varying lengths are very easy to make from the trail system. We highly recommend visiting this incredible area in West Virginia!
