Deserts - Cycling Uzbekistan - The Silk Road

Here's a little video showing my few weeks crossing the hot, vast and jaw-dropping scenery of Uzbekistan, a country steeped in ancient mosques, Islamic art and culture and an essential chapter in the road leading east along the Silk Road.

Crossing the boarder from Kazakhstan, I cycled for days through the Kyzylkum desert which hosted no food, water or shade for hundreds of miles. Some of the best camping I did were in these vast, peaceful deserts, utterly silent except for the occasional wale from a herd of roaming Camels passing by in the distance.

Many touring cyclist are bottle-necked through Uzbekistan and so gave me the wonderful opportunity to meet some amazing friends along the route.
