Freedom writer challenge segregation

Today on Blacks In… Politics, we remember July 29, 1961—
the day the Freedom Riders sat down and stood up to segregation in Jackson, Mississippi.

Three young Black activists entered a “Colored Only” waiting room at a bus station—
knowing they’d be arrested, but determined to defy the law with dignity and courage.

Their quiet resistance became a powerful moment in the Civil Rights Movement.
It wasn’t just about riding buses—
it was about riding straight into history.

This is the legacy of protest. This is the power of presence.
See you next time on Blacks In.
