Richard III - The maligned King (Dust Bowl Dance by Mumford and Sons)

Soon after the battle of Bosworth the first defaming poems and essays were written about Richard III, calling him names and blaming him for crimes he didn't commit, just to justify the rule of the usurper Henry Tudor, whose claim was so shady that he needed to blacken the name of his predecessor and marry the York princess Elizabeth.
This song describes Richards life pretty well actually. He had a strong sense for right and wrong, for justice, duty. Honour and loyalty meant the most to him and in my opinion, he always tried to act to the weal of his country and his subjects. He reformed the law, was the first king to proclaim laws in english so the common man could understand his rights, he stated that men at trial should be seen as equal and judged without considering their social status and that a man should be seen and treated as innocent until his guilt is proven. For his time, this was revolutionary.
