In the second episode of Tech Terrain we ask a very important question for the modern-day farmer: When to mechanise and on what scale?
Tony Ndoro talks to the well-known and influential Wandile Sihlobo, Chief Economist of Agbiz about the economy of scale and some of the barriers in terms of access to technology, especially for developing farmers. Langa Simela of ABSA Agribusiness and Brenda Tlhabane, founder of the Temo Ya Tlhabane Holdings and commercial farmer is also in the Tech Terrain studio to discuss comparing the need for technology with the potential yield increases. We also look at the financing options of equipment and choosing the right tool for the task.
In the final segment Cobus du Toit and Patrick Kubyana of John Deere Sub Saharan Africa introduces us to the new John Deere 6B Tractor.
