Thermometer to measure temperatures | Measurement | Physics
Temperature is a measure of the degree of hotness or coldness of a body. While we can get a sense of weather something is hot or cold by touching it, this is a relative measure that depends on the temperature of our body. It is much better to use a thermometer to get a quantitative measure of temperature. The working principle of the thermometer is that substances expand as they are heated and contract as they cool. Classically, we commonly mercury in glass thermometer as mercury expands or contracts linearly with temperature. Modern electronic thermometers are made with thermistors.
