Cham, Losar (Tibetan New Year) Palpung Monastery དཔལ་སྤུངས། in Garze Tibetan Autonomous Region
Set in the mountains of Kham, Tibet is one of the oldest monasteries of Eastern Tibet. Surviving fires and the Cultural Revolution, it still holds tight onto the traditions and culture of centuries before.
Palpung Monastery is of the Kagyu school of Tibetan Buddhism and originated in the 12th century while the current monastery was founded in 1727.
About Eleanor Moseman:
An American photographer that has been based in China since 2009 and found herself in the Tibetan Himalayas for the first time during the summer of 2011. She has continued to document and record the traditions, culture, and people of the region in the vision of a conservationist, historian, and anthropologist.
