Wall art can be a nemesis when you are trying to get a room finished. And heaven forbid you are like me and want to change out wall decor several times a year!  That could get expensive!

But, there are some things you can do that will not break the bank and yet, still give that fresh vintage vibe to your home decor.

I recently bought a paint by numbers kit.  It was actually for myself, but the kids pounced on it immediately and it kept them busy and happy for several days.

So there's that.  Cheap crowd control, haha!

But, I also ended up with a large piece of art that almost has an oil painted look to it.

Let's look at a few other framed art ideas and I will show you that paint by numbers one that inspired this post in the first place.

1. I'll start with the obvious one,

Thrifted Art

I always check the framed art and frames when I am out yard saling.

The little oil painting was a $2 find a while back.

2.

Calendar Pages

The little french photo is actually from a calendar I had back high school.

3.

Black & White Photos

Raid your parents' stash of old family photos and see what turns up!

4.

Book Pages

These don't even have to be right side up, a collage looks great, too!

5.

DIY Chalkboard

By adding a piece of masonite that has been painted with chalkboard paint you can easily turn a frame into a chalkboard

6.

Pressed Botanicals

Ferns and flowers are both stunning, press them for three days in a heavy book and you are good to go.

My reese frame is from World Market.

The one in the video is one I made by printing a design and ironing it on burlap. But you can purchase real feedsacks from Etsy.

8.

Free Printables

Check my Pinterest Wall Decor board for some great free printables.

9.

Sheet Music

You can find this online or use some you already have.

10.

Paint by Number

I ordered this kit on Etsy, but it did turn out a little bright so I ended up using a little white furniture wax to tone it down.
