Owner and founding board member of Martinhal Family Hotels & Resorts (www.martinhal.com), Chitra is a passionate entre­preneur and real-estate & hotel developer, working alongside her business-partner and husband on their projects in Portugal. They have developed their flagship Martinhal Sagres Beach Resort & Hotel in the Algarve from scratch and have successfully expanded the “Martinhal” brand across 3 other properties in the best and most prestigious locations in Portugal.

The 5th Martinhal property will be a branded hotel residence building with a vertical forest in the Park of Nations, Lisbon. They are also working on a commercial real-estate project and an international school project in the same area – all opening in 2020. They have had 4 children dur­ing the process of building up their businesses – all born in Portugal.

In March 2017, Chitra was invited to become an Executive Committee Member of Portugal IN, a special task force created by the Portuguese Prime Minister’s office to further enhance Foreign Direct Investment into Portugal in various areas, especially in the wake of Brexit (www.portugalin.gov.pt).
