About the Family Medicine Residency Program- Dr. Jim Schindler

Jim Schindler, MD, MPH, is the program director of Methodist Medical Center at Oak Ridge Family Medicine Residency Program. In this video, get to know Dr. Schindler and hear about his motivations to become the program director for this unopposed family medicine residency program.

As we build the program, we will invite eight PGY1 family medicine residents in July of 2024, our inaugural year of building "the doctors of the future."

This program will focus on modern elements facing our patient population: access to behavioral healthcare, virtual care, and an overall effort on enhanced primary care that is focused on the patients and their needs. This program will focus on team involvement and community involvement.

Methodist Medical Center at Oak Ridge Family Medicine Residency will bring medical students to the Knoxville-Oak Ridge area to continue their medical training in becoming primary care doctors. Applications open October 2023.

Methodist Medical Center is the sponsoring institution of the new Family Medicine Residency Program. The program will be introduced in conjunction with a new physician practice, Methodist Family Medicine Clinic, located in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. The practice is located on the campus of Methodist Medical Center, a member hospital of Covenant Health, a Knoxville-based healthcare organization.
