Loading Ammo for the 45-70 Lever Action Rifle

There are different considerations for loading ammunition for a lever action rifle. The ammo has to be the correct length for the carrier/lifter in order to feed properly. Also, Lever action rifles do not have the strength of a single shot or a bolt action, therefore, pressures for lever action ammo need to be kept lower than otherwise might be possible.

In this video, we go through the basic steps of loading ammo specifically for an 1886 lever action 45-70. We're assuming that the viewer knows about brass cleaning, trimming, and other basic prep operations. The end product is my lever action load, a 450 grain bullet running 1450 feet per second.
