LIVING IN HISTORY | Leon Russell's Words to Patrick Henderson

In this clip, Rev. Henderson tells us about an interaction with Leon Russell, explaining to him how important it was to record the remarkable things that were happening because of their influence on the music industry. Leon Russell illustrated the historical significance to that of Beethoven.

Reverend Patrick Henderson is a legendary gospel musician and native Texan who met Leon Russell in the early ‘70s shortly after the Mad Dogs and Englishmen tour. The two became close friends very quickly, and Patrick would contribute his unique gospel influence and sizzling chord progressions to Leon’s albums and tours for 4 years. He then moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in gospel ministry. Patrick credits Leon as the man who verbalized his calling and altered the entire course of his life. He has worked with the likes of Stevie Wonder, Nils Lofgren, Michael Bolton, and Freddie King, and even co-arranged "What a Fool Believes" and "Real Love" with Michael McDonald.
