Azure Bastion Developer available in 36 public regions

Hello, this is John Lewis, and welcome to your Azure Daily Minute for Tuesday, April 15th, 2025.

Beginning in June 2025, Microsoft will begin billing for active usage of Entra ID Governance features that are designed for guest users. In June Azure administrators will have the option to continue using governance features for guests by connecting an Azure subscription. Many license options are available with Microsoft Entra ID for both commercial and government use. These choices include Free, P1, P2, Entra Suite, Entra Verified ID and more. A subscription to a prerequisite for a Microsoft Entra ID Governance product must be active in the tenant. If a prerequisite is not present, or the subscription expires, then Microsoft Entra ID Governance scenarios might not function as expected.

Azure Bastion Developer has expanded to a total of 36 public regions with support for more regions coming soon. Bastion Developer provides secure-by-default RDP/SSH connectivity to virtual machines without the need for a public IP address. Bastion Developer is ideal for Development and Test users who want to securely connect to virtual machines without additional Bastion features or host scaling. With Bastion Developer, users connect to one Azure VM at a time directly through the virtual machine connect page. Azure Bastion Developer is available in Australia Central, Brazil South, Canada East, Japan West, and several other regions.
