Craigmillar Castle
Craigmillar Castle, about 2 ½ miles from Edinburgh, is a property looked after by Historic Scotland. It is one of the most perfectly preserved medieval castles in Scotland surrounded by a big wall called a Curtain Wall that protects the building inside and in the Courtyard there are two yew trees a symbol of everlasting life that are over 300 years old. Above the gate on the Inner Wall is the coat of arms of the Preston family, who built the castle.
The views from the top would be lovely on a sunny day as looking north you can pick out the tops of buildings in The Royal Mile as well as Edinburgh Castle and Arthur’s Seat . Suitable for Children and Family viewing
