Born in the USA, Discovered in Africa - Cherae Robinson's journey of self-discovery highlights the transformative power of travel. In this talk, she shows how her identity has both been shaped and redefined by her travel to the continent and shares how more experiences like this can help reframe the African narrative. Cheraé Robinson is the founder and CEO of Tastemakers Africa, an experiences platform connecting black millennials to heritage and culture worldwide. The winner of the inaugural “She Leads Africa” startup competition, Cheraé has been named one of the “10 Emerging Women Entrepreneurs in Africa” by Forbes, one of the “20 to Watch” by leading Silicon Valley trends group Culture Shift Labs, and a “Woman to Watch” by the United Nations Foundation. Most recently she was named one of "44 People Changing the Way We Travel" by Condé Nast’s Traveller Magazine alongside Elon Musk and the founders of AirBnB.
Cheraé holds a B.S. in Biology from Morgan State University and is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Prior to launching her company, Cheraé bridged the gap between science and people within large international organizations like CIMMYT, CARE, and the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
