Tiffenden AIrfield is not difficult when the wind is light but please note it can get very challenging when the wind is from anywhere other than straight down the runway. There's lots of trees and low down wind sheer and turbulence may make landing safely almost impossible.

Short strip experience and a STOL aircraft are a must.

Welcome to Short Field a channel all about the lighter side of aviation and this time we are visiting a beautiful little strip in the heart of the ‘Garden of England’ which also happens to be in the owners back yard…… so buckle up, because here we go.

Paul Anderson and his family are the owners of a beautiful property set in an idyllic location just over 5 nautical miles to the south-west of Ashford in Kent.

The site is home to the Woodchurch Carriage Driving for the Disabled Group, a charity that offers disadvantaged participants the opportunity to get involved in all aspects of horse care and carriage driving it also hosts the stunning airfield of Tiffenden, surely one of the U.K.’s finest private strips which can, well let’s say, at times, be pretty challenging.

THE AIRFIELD
Tiffenden sits in a triangle of grass and farm strips with the famous war time US airforce base of Woodchurch less than 2 nautical miles to the north east and the farm strip of Little Robhurst less than 1 mile to the south. Care must be taken when approaching Tiffenden as Little Robhurt’s circuit traffic can end up over the top of Tiffenden at 1,000 feet.

I fly a 2011 Pipersport two seat single engined aircraft that is also known as the PS28 or SportCruiser. It cruises at 105 knots and has superb short take off and landing capabilities.

My videos may give helpful information to pilots visiting the airfields that I cover but please remember these are just for entertainment, I am not an instructor nor should anything shown in my videos be used for real world aviation, also the airfields may have totally changed or even closed since the making of the video so always consult the latest information for your country.
