Dr. Ravi Kannan is Director, Cachar Cancer Hospital and Research Centre, Silchar and a member of the Association of Surgeons of India, Indian Society of Oncology. His vision has turned a small cancer centre into a full-fledged hospital in Assam’s Barak valley. Dr. Kannan, who was a renowned oncologist at the Adyar Cancer Institute in Chennai, moved to Silchar to serve selflessly for the Cancer-stricken people of the region. Through the talk Dr. Kannan brings forward the pitiful plight of the people fighting cancer in this region and the landmark decisions his team took to bring about remarkable improvements. Dr. Kannan is a surgical oncologist who was earlier heading department of Surgical Oncology in the prestigious Adyar Cancer Institute in Chennai. He was moved by the plight of economically impoverished people who had no access to even basic cancer treatment. Relinquishing monetary accolades, he chose to dedicate his services to the Cachar Cancer Hospital & Research Centre in Silchar, Assam.
