TWISTED CITY TALES
From the moment a city is born is has a dark sinister side that helps to create its culture and history. There are villains, murderers and scoundrels committing the most disgusting deeds. This series looks at three cities that contain grim history now seen, sometimes romantically, as the creator of richness of culture. London, Boston and Berlin - places where the macabre is just round the corner.
Berlin
Within the city, the scene of the crime has became a symbol of peace whilst also the personification of its shame - the cruelty at the end of war as the red army came to seek revenge for 20 million executed comrades. The stunning depths of depravity that Nazis, the Gestapo and Hitler sunk to in persecution and execution. During the Black Death, Berliners are spared by a pact with the Devil.
