How do you know that you need to replace your service stop valve? If it is hard to turn or if when you fully close the valve the water doesn't completely turn off, chances are that your need to replace your service stop valve.

You will need a few tools to replace a compression service stop valve including the Following: An angle-on wrench, A quick tight wrench, a ferrule puller and a wrench for your ferule puller.

Once you have all your tools together, make sure to shut off the water to your service valve stop by turning off the water at the main water manifold and releasing the pressure valve.

Once the water to the valve is off, remove the service flex line from off the service stop by using a pair of small channel lock pliers.

Once the service flex line is removed you begin removing the service stop by attaching your angle-on wrench to the service flex line bib, and attach the quick tight wrench to the nut at the back of the service valve as shown in the video.

Loosen the nut at the back of the service stop, and once the nut is all the way loosened you can remove the service stop valve by gentle pulling away from the nut. make sure that you have a bowl or container to catch the residual water still in the valve.

Once the service stop valve is removed attach the Ferule Pulling tool over the nut and tighten with your hand. After you have tightened tool with you hand use a wrench to continue to tighten the tool and pull the ferule from off the pipe.

After the Ferule is removed inspect the copper pipe to ensure that there are no indents or damage. If there is damage to the pipe, you may have to cut of a small piece of the copper pipe before installing a new service stop valve.

To install the new service stop valve, replace the nut over the copper pipe, and place the new ferule. Place the new service stop valve over the ferule and tighten the nut with your fingers. Then securely tighten the nut using the angle on wrench and the quick wrench.

Once the new service stop valve is installed, reattach the service flex line, turn the water to the house back on, and remove the aerator from the faucet. Slowly open the faucet to clear any air or debris in the new fittings. Once everything is clear close the faucet and replace your faucet's aerator.
