Niels van Roij Design, a pioneer in automotive coach building transformations, proudly unveils its latest bespoke project, a Targa conversion for a 1987 12-cylinder mid-engined sports car.

Initiated by a devoted admirer of the Italian brand – who’s a British Expat living in Andorra – this project showcases the design studio’s dedication to reimagining iconic cars.

UNIQUE BOLD PIECE OF CAR DESIGN

The donor car, a two-door coupé that first graced the automotive world at the 1984 Paris Auto Show, served as the canvas for Niels van Roij Design’s client transformative vision. Armed with a profound appreciation for the brand’s legacy, both this project’s patron as well as the design studio took on the honorable task of translating the iconic 12-cylinder mid-engined sports car into a stunning open-top GT.

What makes this project particularly unique is that the original design never intended for a Targa version. However, fueled by the passion of the client, Niels van Roij Design embraced the challenge, to seamlessly integrate the Targa concept into the car’s DNA.
