Crowd chants ‘CNN sucks’ as Trump hits back at big tech, leftist media

Crowds at Donald Trump’s rally in Georgia have chanted “CNN sucks” after the president criticised big tech and mentioned allegations surfacing from a hard drive against his rival Joe Biden and the former vice president’s son Hunter.

“I’m not just running against Biden and that corrupt family, I’m running against the left-wing corrupt media, and we’re running against big tech,” he said.

His remarks come after the Senate Commerce Committee announced a hearing with Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey, Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai and Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg as witnesses.

It’s scheduled to take place on October 28.

“The hearing will examine whether Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act has outlived its usefulness in today’s digital age,” the statement said.

Section 230 shields online platforms from being held liable for what their users publish on their platforms.

It also contains a provision that leaves it entirely in the hands of social media companies to take down content it deems to be offensive or deceptive.

Facebook and Twitter came under fire this week after censoring a New York Post report alleging Hunter set up a meeting between Mr Biden and a Ukrainian company in 2015 when he was vice president.
