The actual definition of a franchise player is the best person on a team who they can build around for the future. By that standard the NBA has 30 teams but not 30 franchise players. In this video we reveal the best and worst franchise players around the league. Some teams appear to have a franchise player but don’t in actuality. Chris Paul - for example - has been a franchise player his entire career but his time in Oklahoma City could end when the 2020 NBA playoffs are over so that’s not a person they are building around. The Knicks have a young, high draft pick in RJ Barrett but they don’t know what his talent and future in the league really is. So the best franchise players are guys like Stephen Curry, LeBron James, Kawhi Leonard, Giannis Antetokounmpo and James Harden. The worst are guys like LaMarcus Aldridge, Blake Griffin, Kevin Love, Nikola Vucevic and De’Aaron Fox.
