The Redemption of Dresna | MTC Staff Play 5780

Our story focuses on the city of Dresna, a small town in rural Russia in the early 1900’s, where the townspeople have been suffering for decades, and although they may have heard about the brewing revolution, they are still desolate and hopeless.
Meet Victor Chernov (Mendel Chein), who, following the teachings and inspiration of Professor Markoff, sets out to save his city. On his journey he becomes friends with Leon Trotzky (Sholom Bluming), becomes Loyal to Vladimir Lenin (Levi Schtrocks), and bumps heads with Joseph Stalin (Levik Gourarie).
The revolutionaries fight the czar (Shmuli Klein) and his evil priest Rasputin (Sruli Robbins), through plotting, assassinations, and wild demonstrations, they get closer and closer to their ultimate goal – revolution.
After many harrowing experiences, Victor returns home and inspires the townspeople to stand up for themselves and bring freedom and prosperity to Dresna, Professor Markoff returns and Dresna is free.

The story serves as a Mashal for our generation here in golus. We are the Rebbe’s young soldiers that are going to revolutionize the world, we will bring the Geulah to a tired and helpless world and we will be reunited with our Rebbe.
What is needed from us is to have a revolutionary attitude; not only to not get discouraged by the cynics and the naysayers, but rather to inspire them, and get the job done; to bring us to the new-age of Didan Notzach!
