January 28, 2019 | David Grossman is the author of To the End of the Land, Lion's Honey, and A Horse Walks Into a Bar, among numerous other novels, works of nonfiction, and short stories. A prominent Israeli author and winner of the 2017 Man Booker International Prize, he has written extensively on Jewish issues, with The Yellow Wind and Sleeping on a Wire addressing the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
In this Faith and Culture series conversation, author and series moderator Paul Elie invited Grossman to discuss his fiction and the role that his Jewish identity plays in its creation. They discussed the importance of religion in shaping and communicating stories and the difficulties that utilizing a religious sensibility can pose.
