Black Bazar

Black Bazar consists of a bunch of legendary musicians new and old, including ‘velvet-voiced’ Ballou Canta and Popolipo Beniko with his liquid, sparkling solo guitar. Their first album featured a return to the musical roots of Congolese rumba. Audiences were enthusiastic and the numerous artists involved were hailed as “the new masters of the African scene in Paris”. Their second album “Round 2” is based on compositions by the legendary guitarist Popolipo Beniko and the talented bass-player Michel Lumana. Each track is full of atmosphere and deeply rooted in musical tradition. The sounds of Kinshasa and Brazzaville come together alongside the traditional rhythms and beats that have set on fire the nightclubs of the African diaspora. Some call it ‘dancehall Rumba’. Whatever you may think of Congo, there’s still no place on the planet that makes better dance music.
