PM Modi lends support to France; War on TERROR equated to Islamophobia? | India Upfront

On India Upfront with Rahul Shivshankar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has sent out a clear message after the deadly attack in France saying that India stands together in the fight against terrorism, Congress is now leading an anti-France protest from Mumbai to Bhopal. Party leaders are leading the anti-Macron protest and are pasting French President’s posters on the roads. These posters term Macron as ‘sinful’. 

Many leaders have criticised Macron and have led shockwaves in India. BJP has slammed Congress over backing terrorism. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given all-out support to France and the President. But what is seen in the city of Mumbai is questionable, many posters were seen on the grounds so people and animals can walk over his face. BJP has raised a massive question over how this is acceptable to Shiv Sena. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is standing in solitary with the victims in France and against terrorism.

'Anyone who cherishes liberty, equality, stands with the French President. He did not insult Prophet Mohammad', says, Anand Ranganathan, an author. Atiq ur Rehman, Islamic Scholar, explains to Rahul Shivshankar that the Prophet always said never go on a spree of hate-mongering, even for those who critisise you. Shehzad, a lawyer explains that he does not support the beheading of Samuel Paty because if he supports it would be legitimising the terror act.

'Our Constitution does not give anyone a right to condemn any religious text. If someone violates the law, the law will take its own course', explains Shehzad Naqvi, a lawyer.
