Rescuers race to save drowning horses
Two horses found in water up to their chests were in desperate need of help. They had been swimming in rancid flood waters from Hurricane Florence for hours, and were past the point of exhaustion.
Their owner had been airlifted to the hospital due to a medical emergency. The rescuers would have to get creative in order to save the horses' lives.
Krissie Newman is the founder of Rescue Ranch, a nonprofit organization in North Carolina that rescues and helps rehabilitate animals. She and her team are trained for swift water rescues, which was needed to save pets and farm animals when the North Caroline coast flooded.
