CCV Delete, Catch Can Install BMW E46 M54 Engine 325TI
In this long video I will be removing the problematic crankcase ventilation system on my 325ti BMW and replacing it with a catch can. These can be the cause of the car running bad and also high oil consumption. I was experiencing both of these problems so this is my reasoning. I also cleaned my idle control valve seeing as it is easy to get to when doing this job and it also made a good improvement. Idle control valves sticking is also a common problem on BMW's of this age. BMW's of this age are just common problems anyways. I will admint that this is not a how to video and more of a document of me doing the work. There is lots of guids online on how to do this job. You can still watch this and learn from what I have done / the mistakes I have made.
How dose the CCV system become a problem?
The CCV job is to vent crank case pressure the best why for the environment. In order to do this it send the pressure and gases into the intake. Sometimes oil can go through with it. In colder climates mosture can build up in the CCV system and when water mixes with oil it creates a custard mess that blocks up the hole system.
I had a few problems with this hole install:
Oil falling out the old system as I did not remove it. Fix is to just remove it or let the car sit for a good week and then clean the tray under the engine.
Oil dip stick o ring snapped. Fix is to have a new one ready to go on.
Vaccume line failed on me. Fix is to replace it with the correct hose.
And the one that I did not addresse in the video is that I now have a vacumme leak from where I did not install hose clamps. Fix install hose clamps.
