From the airfield EDERNZE you can walk (downhill) to the city of Echternach. It is a beautiful walk through the Mullerthal Region. This region on the border of Germany and Switzerland is often referred to as Little Switzerland. The border is the river Sauer. Echternach is the oldest town in Luxembourg. The city has winding pedestrian streets full of shops and restaurants, a bustling town square, and a stunning basilica and abbey (rebuilt on the site of the original seventh century monastery). Luxembourg has the lowest VAT rates in the European Union which makes the country attractive for buying goods.
