About the song:
Since this song plays in an icy place, I thought it'd be a good idea to give "windy" instruments the main role, and also give them some echo. I had to edit the instruments to make it work and still resemble the original, seems like doing so has now become commonplace. This decision makes it give a different vibe from the original, but I think it's an appropiate change, fits the environment better. Since I gave the main instrument some echo, I couldn't fit the chord accompaniment into any FM channel, so as per usual, square waves were used for lack of room, and also with echo to keep the ambience.

I love how intense 1:07--1:26 is, it's the best part of the song in my opinion.
About the picture:
This time I based it on a video instead, the pictures I found showed little more than the Chemical Plant tubes, water and structures in the background. Through the video I found out there's a lot of zip lines and rails in the level, so I made that the focus of the picture. I looked for sprites to make the cranes and platforms, and I remembered Launch Base had those, and luckily the same level also had the best background, it even had an entire crane! Then I wondered where to get a sea, and I realized Thunder Force, the game I keep getting guitars from, had the best looking sea. At some point I realized Oil Ocean was the same thing as this level, just the opposite climate. The bug robots are from Stardust Speedway, the hooks are from Wing Fortress, and the snowflakes are from Ice Cap.

The entire color palette for the background came from the title screen of Ecco, from the dolphin itself. I later recolored the Oil Ocean platform blue and turned the brightest gray in the Chemical Plant tubes into light blue to make it look icy.

Doing it all took me 4 days, and though I was working on the song at the same time, I finished the song before the image.
