The new Golf R: A car made for those who strive for more while remaining true to their own principles. The symbol of a new dimension of performance , which not only makes it the ultimate in the model series, but also the star of the R. From 0 to 100 in just 4.7 seconds at an optional top speed of 270 km / h. The fourth evolutionary stage of the 2.0 l TSI engine with an output of 235 kW (320 PS ) and the 7-speed dual clutch transmission DSG represent a very specific lifestyle: dynamic, progressive and inspiring.

The Digital Cockpit Pro combines all display and control elements in the R-View: the race track is just a push of a button away.The new Golf R embodies the passion for motorsport and everything that defines a model from the R brand. One is immediately aware of its extraordinary performance.

The new R - Performance Torque Vectoring distributes the drive force variably between the left and right rear wheel. The result: higher cornering speeds with very good traction and driving stability.Adapted to the Nürburgring-Nordschleife, the Golf R with the optional R - Performance package increases the electronic limitation of the top speed from 250 km / h to 270 km / h. The “Drift” and “Special” driving profiles give you goose bumps at the touch of a button. In addition to these powerful functions, the package also includes visual highlights : the rear spoiler in motorsport look and the 19-inch “Estoril” alloy wheels.

By selecting the driving profile, the new Golf R adapts to your preferences and has an answer for almost every driving style. The “Special” driving profile was specially designed for the Nürburgring-Nordschleife. With individual adjustments, such as the optional, adaptive chassis control DCC or a special transverse dynamic coordination via the vehicle dynamics manager and R - Performance Torque Vectoring, the Golf R adapts perfectly to the challenges of the legendary course. The new Golf R makes racing drivers' hearts beat faster. On closed-off routes, it allows spectacular drifting via the "Drift" driving profile through the ESC control and the power distribution via R - Performance Torque Vectoring.

Another highlight of the new Golf R is the innovative all-wheel drive system featuring selective wheel torque control on the rear axle. The all-wheel drive system is controlled by a Vehicle Dynamics Manager that has been closely integrated with other running gear systems such the electronic front differential lock (XDS) and adaptive chassis control DCC. The new Golf R therefore offers optimum traction characteristics, neutral and precise handling, as well as maximum agility. The development goal was to achieve maximum driving pleasure at a previously unrivalled level. The corresponding drive output is generated by a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged power plant in the most powerful version of the EA 888 engine series available for the new Golf. The high-tech, direct-injection engine is characterised by innovative solutions for individual details, such as integration of water-cooled exhaust gas routing to the turbocharger in the cylinder head or variable valve timing with dual camshaft adjustment.
