Matt Monro - The Man with the Golden Voice (TV Documentary)

A musical biography featuring the life and voice of the incomparable British singer, Matt Monro.

Born Terence Edward Parsons in 1930, Matt Monro was an English singer who became one of the most popular entertainers on the international music scene during the 1950s and 1970s. Known as "The Man with the Golden Voice" he filled cabaret clubs and concert venues around the world during a thirty year career span. His Parlophone recordings include "Portrait of My Love", "My Kind of Girl", "Softly As I Leave You" and "Walk Away". He also recorded several significant film themes such as "From Russia with Love" for the James Bond film, "Born Free" for the film of the same name and "On Days Like These" for The Italian Job. His recording manager was the equally legendary George Martin. Monro was a heavy smoker and long battled alcoholism. He died from liver cancer in 1985 in London, aged 54. [Wikipedia]
