Cumbres and Toltec double heading up 4% grade October, 2019

The weather is perfect for a train ride through the stunning countryside of New Mexico and Colorado. This area is famous for it's beautiful, golden, aspen trees which are only gold for about a week. This railroad is considered one of the most scenic in the World.

We catch the train near Chama, New Mexico and follow it climbing the 4% grade until it reaches Cumbres, Colorado. Cumbres at 10,015 feet, is the highest point of the railroad. At this point the helper locomotive is cut off and set back to Chama. Later we visit the shops in Chama. Much of this railroad still looks as it did 100 years ago. Filmed October 9th, 2019.
