A Different Picture Frame | DIY process

This is my video about how I built this different picture frame and how I got to the idea to build it that way. At first I planned to make a normal picture frame but a spontaneous idea made me rethink.

Have fun watching!

Materials:
- beech wood slat (1x3cm, 100cm length)
- wood glue
- mineral oil or other finishing products
- tape
- sandpaper

Tools:
- mitre saw
- japanese saw
- clamps
- chisel

How to make:
First I want to say all cuts except the one for the stand are 45 degrees or 90 degrees. I thought this way it's easier rebuild it if I inspire you to make your own. ;)
I started by cutting 2 long wood pieces with a 45 degrees angle at the ends and 2 smaller ones also with 45° angles. These have to be about as long as the sides of the picture you want to frame. Then I would cut the two support pieces, measured and cut like I've shown in the video. I just cut them later because the idea of the different picture frame came while building. ;)
After all is cut put a mark on the two pieces that make the slide-in feature. Now use a chisel and hold it at a small angle to remove some wood. Test if it fits your picture and correct it if needed. Then spread wood glue like shown and use clamps or if you're not a pro like me clamps and tape to hold the pieces together.
Sand the glued up picture frame and apply the finish you like.

Thanks for watching!
