So who I am I to say that?
I have a degree in software engineering and developed a pretty good understanding how computers work and how software works from the inside.
I also worked at a computer store for 10 years.
A good friend of mine owns a computer store and adviced my about the latest ins and outs

Not interested in advice, only the 5 models of laptops that I would recommend. skip to the end of the video.

when portablity is an option not a nessasity choose a desktop.
Speed and moneywise a laptop is the worst option.
consessions in speed to fit components in small space, they charge you extra for that
Laptops are not made to be speedy, but portable.
Manufacturers do concessions in speed to fit components in a small space.

levels: budget, mid range, professional (this video), absurd expensive

Recommendations specs

-i7 processor, maybe i9 with at least 4 cores
AMD or Intel processor. AMD problems with midi controllers and NO Thunderbolt

-16 gb ram, 8gb bare minimum. can’t add memory in a lot of laptops

-hard drive:
important is that you look at the speed of your hard drive. 5400 RPM can be too slow to read multiple tracks ‘at once’ from your hard drive. choose 7200 rpm or better SSD

Ssd good for battery life
256 gb ssd is far too little. 500gb bare minimum, 1tb is even on the low side.
You will run out of hd space sooner or later. Not a question if but when.
With 256 gb probably after installing your daw and sample packs.
