We traveled 1,000 miles for a launch. Was it worth it? (Artemis II in April 2026)

A few weeks ago, my family and I watched the launch of Artemis II to the moon. After driving almost 1,000 miles to get there, we got to see it as close as anyone is allowed- from only 3.5 miles away at the Saturn V/Apollo Center.

This video is a little different; I want to take you along on our trip to Kennedy Space Center in Florida. We watched four astronauts launch on the Space Launch System (SLS) and it was every bit as incredibly (and loud!) as we hoped.

I'll go into what the launch was like in-person, how we planned to travel to see the rocket launch when the schedule is constantly changing, how we secured up-close tickets, where we stayed, touring Kennedy Space Center with a family and young kids, and what you can expect between the different launch packages available at NASA. Some of our family watched up-close and some watched from 24 miles away on Cocoa Beach.

None of this video is sponsored. My family paid for and planned this whole trip and the "Feel The Heat" package ourselves. I just wanted to share all the details for anyone else who might be planning to travel to Cape Canaveral for a launch in the future!
