1988 Rolex Submariner Ref. 168000 "Triple 0" Box & Papers

In this episode of What’s On My Wrist, Cam takes a look at a 1988 Rolex Submariner ref. 168000 "Triple 0" that retains its original box & papers. This specific Rolex Submariner ref. 168000 is a very rare transitional example that combines what many collectors consider the best elements of vintage and the modern Rolex Submariners into one cohesive and complete package. The Rolex Submariner ref. 168000 was only produced for about 7-9 months between 1987-1988. Aside from the cool combo of transitional design features, what makes this reference so special? The main thing would be the improvement in the quality of the stainless steel used — which was upgraded from grade 316L to grade 904L. After only about 9 months of production, the ref. 168000 was replaced with the ref. 16610 which was very similar, but powered by the then-new 3135 movements.
